And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh(Ezekiel 11:19, KJV).

Although there are so many new breakthroughs in medicine these days, there still is no external antidote to cure the ills of individuals or societies that only know outright rebellion and independence from and hostility to God Almighty.  Therefore, only God can fix what ails this world, and it will take Him functioning as a “heart” surgeon.

It is important to note here that the word “heart” in the above Scripture means, in the biblical sense, the human SOUL. Furthermore, this soul is the center of our every spiritual and moral activity—the seat of our conscience, intellect, thinking, reflecting, understanding, memory, character, personality, desires, determination, and emotions.

Therefore, the above Scripture is making it known that it is God’s Divine Will to give all of us who believe in Him, in His Son, and in His Holy Spirit an undivided heart—a heart that is firmly fixed and resolved for God—one that is in harmony with God’s; one that is balanced, unwavering, and consistent. Moreover, God will make this new heart in us to be very different than the destitute of spiritual life heart we all have had. By doing so, God will cause our new mindsets to be agreeable with His and with the circumstances into which He has brought us.

The heart of stone—the perverse and cruel, stubborn and inflexible, unbelieving (hardened), senseless and ignorant about spiritual things heart—always will be incapable of bearing spiritual fruit, but not the heart of flesh. Our new heart is a tender, pliable, sensitive to spiritual truths, as well as the trials and tribulations of this world, and inclined to receive spiritual visions and dreams, living heart. This new heart of flesh is the reason why we will be able to act from new principles and walk by new rules, and why our aim will be for new horizons and new results.

God already has performed this new heart transplant surgery on many of His children (on every born again and saved believer in Jesus the Christ), but He is not done. Indeed, He continues to be in the heart transplant business.  This surgery is His gift and His promise to any one of us who truly seeks salvation by way of His Son. Because God specializes in this surgical procedure, He is more than able to take out our cold, unregenerate hearts and replace them with new hearts that have been infused with the life of His Holy Spirit, which is the reality of God’s love and the power of His presence in our lives. The Apostle Paul says that we then will “…have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16, KJV), and Christ has the mind of God!

Father God, we thank You for Your promise and Your gift of our new hearts. Holy Spirit, do Your Work in us as You pump new life and new desires within us that are in harmony with God’s life and His desires. Fix us and fill us with Your holy power so that we will no longer rebel against the Will of the Father nor think of ourselves as being gods, but instead we will be sensitive and obedient to God’s plan for our lives—no matter what. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
