As you go, proclaim, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is near,’ heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those afflicted with tzara’at, expel demons. You have received without paying, so give without asking payment. ~ Matthew 10:7-8, CJB
Today’s pusherman 8.0 version, multiplied:
Dove sellers, moneychangers—swindlers, usury 21st-century style
In salesmen’s revival-tent trinkets,
With Bible bookstores hawkers’ religious paraphernalia,
On television’s commercialized advertisements—“revelatory
Series final offer end-times, six-set videos.”
Internet Gospel E-businesses’ varieties:
Prophetic, apostolic conferences, prayer meetings,
Pastoral, ministerial seminars, retreats, workshops,
Church dinners, bazaars, Christmas and Easter pageants,
All for the religious junkie,
And a generous fee.
Money, money, money, money …
Selling the Gospel? …nothing but… Body of Christ
Pimping esotericism in Jesus’ name!
It’s all about the Benjamins, for that mean green,
Almighty dollar (or Visa, Master Card, Amex)—an immediate fix,
Band-aid treatment for spiritual ills,
Jesus junk in place of the unadulterated Word
Going for $25, $35, $85, $275, $500, $3,000 an upward,
The sky is the limit; the highest bidder gets the prize.
But the real deal is priceless … freely received, freely given.
