 But God . . .

Time traveling on memories’ wings fluttering hopelessly,

Barricaded by natural forces that revoked

                   Lifetime covenants—mere vanishing reflections of

                   Abandoned images and decomposed promises.

Stumbled confounded, then fell, uncatchable, through

Angelic safety nets to unwanted, unspeakable torment:

Absolute hellish existence, an inconceivably perpetrated

Deceptive maze of unsuspected spousal machinations.

Handicapped, left to regurgitate distasteful, brutal facts.

 Ephemeral flashbacks replay rejection, degradation,

Shame:  unalterable dissolved quarter century plus union

Decimated by camouflaged “real” love; merely greed and lust.

Innocent and guilty lives fell in infidelity’s devastating wake.

Adultery initiated far-reaching, never-ceasing domino effect,

      Long after renewed severed ties detached again and again;

The mind’s regenerated prickly strongholds flap memories’

Wings just to agitate well-embedded anguish, grief

                                     And disgrace.

Still, the Lord is faithful, providing an escape from broken life….

For I will restore health to you,
and your wounds I will heal,
declares the Lord,
because they have called you an outcast:
‘It is Zion, for whom no one cares!’ ~ Jeremiah 30:17, ESV

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. ~ 1 Peter 5:10, ESV
