Run to Win – Don’t Get Disqualified

Believers Four-Person Relay Team

24 Don’t you know that in a race all the runners compete, but only one wins the prize? So then, run to win! 25 Now every athlete in training submits himself to strict discipline, and he does it just to win a laurel wreath that will soon wither away. But we do it to win a crown that will last forever. 26 Accordingly, I don’t run aimlessly but straight for the finish line; I don’t shadow-box but try to make every punch count. 27 I treat my body hard and make it my slave so that, after proclaiming the Good News to others, I myself will not be disqualified. ~ 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, CJB

While we must run the race that Father God has set before us, we also must be careful not to get ahead of ourselves. We must wait until the Holy Spirit has given us the baton, or we will be disqualified if we run our leg of the relay without it.

Once we have received the baton, that is when we sprint. However, let us make sure that we are sprinting in our lane, as well as dashing straight toward the finish line, for we will not receive our rewards—the Promises of God that have been saved up for His overcoming saints—any other way. In other words, we also must run to win!

Selah . . . pause and calmly think about that. Shalom . . . . .

VERSE:

Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women, who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.

Philippians 4:3

COUPLET:

Christ’s co-laborers: sisters and brothers;
Fellow workers meeting needs of others.

PRAYER:

Holy Spirit, remind us that all men and women believers in Christ are “fellow workers.” Also remind us that Christ’s co-laborers should assist one another, especially in the ministry of helps (a loving, giving, caring, service-oriented ministry). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

I Love Jesus, Yes I Do!

I Love Jesus

“LOVE is when a MAN wipes your tears, even after you left Him hanging on the Cross with your sins.” ~ Author Unknown

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. ~ Matthew 22:37-39, ESV

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, ESV

We love because he first loved us. ~ 1 John 4:19, ESV

“A woman’s heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her.” ~ Max Lucado

I love Jesus because He first loved me. I love Jesus because He first taught me everything I would ever need to know about the God kind of Love. I love Jesus because He also taught me how to see with my heart the things my eyes can’t see. I love Jesus because His Love, Grace, and Atoning Sacrifice have liberated me. I love Jesus because He is preparing a place for me, and I love Jesus because He is coming back for me to take me to that place He has prepared. He truly is my Savior, my Lord, my King, my Healer, my Provider, my Rock, my Strong Tower, my Shelter from the storm(s), my Brother, my Friend; indeed, He’s my Everything.

Since Father God and Jesus Christ both Love everyone, no one who has been blessed by their pure deep Love should ever take their Love for granted. Moreover, every recipient of Father God and Jesus Christ’s love won’t have any excuses for not putting into practice the same kind of Love they have received from the Creator and His Son. Lastly, the bottom line is that everyone’s loving response to Jesus (and to mankind) only is possible because of the Lord’s amazing Love for each of us, which He showed us while we were yet sinners.

Why do you love Jesus? What is it about your love for Him that lets Him know your love is genuine? How have you demonstrated your love for the human race (everybody . . . regardless of known ancestry, or skin color, or professed religion, or national origin, or cultural distinctions, or political party, or education level, or financial status, and so forth)?
