The anointing the apostle John speaks about—that which is embedded deeply within believers and that which teaches them all truth—is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This empowering, edifying, and supernatural baptism (believers’ spiritual edge) also is called the Holy Spirit’s Filling, which may or may not happen the moment believers receive their salvation.
There is NO MIDDLE GROUND. If we are born again and saved believers in Christ, then we either are on fire for the Lord, or we are lukewarm Christians. In order to not be lukewarm Christians, we have to receive AND cooperate with the better Baptism that John the Baptist speaks about in Matthew 3:11 and Luke 3:16. We have to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and Fire.
Because we have liberty in Christ Jesus, which delivers us from any and all of the trappings that come with every kind of religious ceremony and superstition, we also never should allow ourselves to become a slave to either our day-to-day cares or the storms of life. Indeed, there is nothing that should hinder the freedom we have to live and move and have our being in Christ Jesus.
The Lord expects every lukewarm fence rider to either be a believer who accepts the Gospel message and Christ Jesus 100% or rejects the Gospel message and Christ Jesus 100%. There is no middle ground—no compromising. Thus, those individuals who claim to be Christians yet are living their lives halfheartedly and powerlessly need to get off the fence and either firmly declare that they will be FOR (hot; brotherly, sisterly, friendly) or AGAINST (cold; antagonistic, unreceptive; apathetic) Christ Jesus. The bottom line is that either Christ Jesus is indeed every believer’s EVERYTHING, or He is nothing to any believer!
