God established that three of His seven commanded appointed times (feast days) – First Fruits, Pentecost, and Tabernacles – would be associated with two different grain harvests and one fruit of the vine harvest that took place annually in Israel. Moreover, God established that these three crops (barley, wheat, and grapes) would also depict, spiritually speaking, three classes of people. The Barley represents the holy and saintly overcomers, the Wheat represents the carnal believers, and the Grapes mostly represent the unsaved unbelievers.
Barley is the grain that was grown in ancient Israel that symbolizes perfection—the perfect firstfruits offering, the perfect sacrifice, and the perfect Bride of Christ. Several Scriptures prove, again and again, that there are two grain harvests that belong to the Lord—the Firstfruits harvest and a subsequent harvest (the Barley harvest and then the Wheat harvest). The Word of God also promises there will be two spiritual harvests—the harvest of Barley Christians and the harvest of Wheat Believers, with the latter being larger than the former. Just like the natural Barley harvest comes first with the natural Wheat harvest following, the Bride of Christ’s pre-Tribulation spiritual harvest will come first, and it will be followed by the Tribulation Period’s finally sold out for Christ surviving Wheat Believers’ end of the Age of Grace spiritual harvest.
